About this Game
Fate Core is a tabletop roleplaying game about proactive, capable people who lead dramatic lives. Create your characters and develop instant group dynamics with a unique phased character generation system, then use those characters as a springboard to storytelling and worldbuilding.
Playing Fate is like acting as the writers' room for a dramatic movie or television show, where each player is responsible for their character's story. Each character, NPC, and even the world itself is composed of narrative Aspects that players and the GM can invoke to create drama.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does rolling dice work in Fate?
Fate uses Fudge dice, a set of four six-sided dice with two "+" sides, two "-" sides, and two blank sides. When rolling Fudge dice, players count the total + signs rolled and subtract the number of - signs to get a result from -4 to +4, and add any bonuses to try to reach a target number.
What are Aspects in Fate?
The Fate RPG runs on Aspects, which are descriptive phrases or sentences that represent a truth about the characters or the world. Anything can be an Aspect, from "robs from the rich to give to the poor" to "on fire." Players and GMs can invoke the truth of these Aspects to get bonuses to rolls, compel characters to act in accordance with them, and create drama!
What are Fate Points in Fate?
Fate Points are a resource both the players and GM can use in Fate RPG. Players spend them to invoke Aspects, which are narrative truths about the world and its characters, gain bonuses to dice rolls, and declare new truths based on existing ones. GMs can offer Fate Points to players to tempt them to act in accordance with their flaws and to use Aspects against them.
What is Fate RPG's setting?
Fate is a universal roleplaying game system, meaning it doesn't have a default setting. It's designed for stories of capable, competent protagonists in tense and dramatic situations, so any setting or genre that fits those criteria will work in Fate. There are also some settings which are built using Fate Core's engine, like the Dresden Files RPG or Atomic Robo.
