Fighting is just part of life for any adventurer in the world of Dragonbane, and you better know what you're doing or you'll be dead within seconds! Luckily for you, Ellinor from Free League Publishing is here to give you a brief overview of what can go down and how you best prepare for sticky situation! In Dragonbane, combatants "draw initiative," randomly drawing cards numbered from 1 to 10, to determine turn order. Once everyone's taken a turn, these cards are redrawn, so you're never certain when your next chance will come! Each player can take an action on their turn, but they can also spend their action reactively to defend themselves. introducing tactical choices in every round of the fight. Should you dodge or parry now, or risk taking a hit so you can strike back? Generally, combat works similarly to other rolls in the game: roll a d20 under your stat to succeed. But watch out for monsters, whose dangerous and unpredictable special abilities are even out of the game master's control!
